After a day or two I’m sure she’ll remember her first haircut experience with the same fondness I do now. I look forward to a long wonderful relationship with my new client…I just know we’re going to have a lot of fun in the salon!

After working three days at the Northwest Women’s Show in Seattle I learned a few things.  One wear much more comfortable shoes when you stand on concrete. And two is most women have no idea what the right shade of foundation should be.  I was asked repeatedly to apply a darker shade to women so they wouldn’t look “washed out”   ummm…yea…that is not doing what you think….Everyone (please underline everyone) can see you have a dark makeup on that does not match if that is what you’re doing (please gently pass this blog post to a friend if this is them)  There are much better ways to add color to the skin tone.

So, here some help:

• Put a long swipe of color on your lower jaw and extend down to neck.
• Take a good hard look at both your face and neck….does it blend in and look like it’s not there?  It should if it’s correct!
• Add bronzer around perimeter of face to add some depth of color (not in the middle of your face)
• Choose a blusher that looks natural and soft
• Blend all with a large brush to give an all over glow
• If you are over 45 please buy a 10X magnifying mirror.  It’s tough to look at a blown up version of yourself but you will see what you really look like before anyone else does!

Yummy Creamy Fat Cat Fudge

So this morning as I’m getting ready to go out for a nice sunny Sunday run I first check in with Facebook and see that Kristine is doing a demo at Central Market (just in time for Valentines Day)….hmmm….run some…eat some fudge…run some more…this could work.

After running 5 miles I slip into the market and grab my free sample.  As it melts deliciously in my mouth I reminded of all those feel good things in life…you know “whiskers on kittens, blue satin sashes and snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes” and Fat Cat Fudge!

What a wonderful way to enjoy the day!

1. Stand up tall and smile
2. Exfolliate – no one finds dead skin attractive except for Zombies
3. Hair should be shiny and move or it looks old and damaged
4. Remember makeup is there to “enhance” your beauty not hide it
5. Blend, blend, and then blend some more when applying makeup
6. Use moisturizer especially at night when your skin is resting
7. If going for bold pick only one: eyes or lips
8. To bring out a feature on your face make it lighter and recede features you don’t like with darker
9. Groom your eyebrows if you’re old than 14 (If you have a teenage daughter…take a good look at theyre eyebrows and help guide them)  It’s not a matter of “if” you should but a matter of how much to do!
10. Take another look at tip one!

This is so simple we often overlook it…Don’t forget your eyebrows!  They play a very important roll in how you look to others with non verbal communication.  Do you look angry?  Sad? Old?  Take a good look and ask a professional to assist you in making them perfect!

Tools you may need after shaping:

• brow powder – it fills in to create a more youthful look
• spoolie – to comb your brows and make powder or pencil look natural
• brow pencil – to draw in brows that are missing (be very careful not to look like you’ve drawn on your brows )
• tweezer – to groom errant hairs that grow in between shapings
• angled brow brush – helps apply powder in perfect shape
• eyebrow wax – if you have “wild” hairs that don’t stay down
